Showcasing plant producers and our industry
The plant producer industry featured on TVNZ1's Rural Delivery on 8 July. Andrew Harrison (NZPPI Board Chair) and Mike Simpson of Waimea Nurseries talk about NZPPI, and the massive contribution plant producers make to New Zealand’s society and economy. If you missed it, you can view the video clip on Rural Delivery's website.
New Zealand Plant Producers Incorporated has been set up "by plant producers for plant producers". The full range of plant production is covered, from suppliers for horticulture, viticulture and forestry, to landscape, amenity and retail.
Andrew Harrison works for KVH in Tauranga and is NZPPI chairman. Andrew says the new group will ensure representation for all plant producers, as well as providing industry partner membership.
NZPPI board member Mike Simpson is managing director of Waimea Nurseries. Mike says plant production contributes significantly to the economy and it is critical to have a strong and united voice on shared issues for plant producers, such as biosecurity and the RMA, as well as growing an appropriately skilled and talented workforce for the sector.
